Faith’s Paracord Ministry needs your help! Men and women, veterans and non-Veterans, teenagers who can use community hours… Anyone willing to learn and has time available to help Faith Lutheran Church serve our Mission to the Military. This is a perfect activity during this time of Covid-19 where we are spending additional time at home. This activity is simple to learn and can be done in front of the television. So far, in 2020, we have sent 5,214 bracelets, but we need your help.

What are Paracord Bracelets?

Paracord bracelets are also known as survival bracelets, or parachute cord bracelets and are considered a survival tool. These bracelets become extremely handy in survival or emergency situations.

How can a Paracord “Survival” Bracelet be used?

Paracord Bracelets can hold up to 550 lbs. of weight. The bracelet provides 7.5 feet of cord in an emergency. Paracord “Survival” Bracelets can be used to:

  • Secure camouflage nets to trees or vehicles
  • Build a makeshift shelter
  • Extend a security strap or rope to reach and haul heavy objects
  • Create a harness to extract an injured person from a bad location
  • Make a sling or splint

And those are just a few of the ways to use the full paracord!

How can I get started?

Kits to start assembling these bracelets are located in the Narthex at the Ministry Center. There is a box with ten 7 1/2 foot lengths of paracord with burned ends (to prevent unraveling). The pattern and instructions for making the bracelets is also found there.

Operation Gratitude is the organization that we work with to send these bracelets out. This link also includes more information about how this movement got started, how the packages are assembled and sent, and how their organization has evolved over time. The link also includes videos that show how happy, thankful, and appreciative all branches of service are to be remembered.

Making these bracelets takes practice. Please contact Neil or Mary with any questions. We are here to help you get started and will work with you.

Please contact the church office with questions or to sign up with Mary Peck and Neil Christiansen.
