After sharing the story of the Good Samaritan, Jesus said “Go and do likewise.” That is the mission of Samaritan’s Purse—to follow the example of Christ by helping those in need and proclaiming the hope of the Gospel.

This year, we want to collect more shoeboxes than ever before, because now more than ever, children need hope! Faith Lutheran Church will soon begin collecting gift-filled shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. You can give boys and girls in need a tangible expression of God’s love through a gift-filled shoebox packed from your home. You can learn how to pack a shoebox by visiting Samaritan’s Purse. This year, you can also build a shoebox online from your computer or handheld device. After we pack and ship our shoeboxes overseas, local believers will share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with children as they distribute them. As a result, families are reached, new churches are started, and communities are transformed. More than 10.5 million shoebox gifts were collected in 2019.

We invite your family to please pick up a premade shoe box next Sunday, November 1st in the narthex. You will also find a list of suggested gifts for the age of the boy/girl. Please have fun while filling the box with the gifts. Each box will need to include a $9 donation to provide for collecting, processing, shipping, and other project costs. If you are making your donation online, you can Follow Your Box and receive a special label. Please pray for the child who will receive your shoebox. You can also include a personal note or card and even a picture of your family. Please bring your gift-filled shoebox with your $9 donation to the church narthex by November 15th. Faith Lutheran Church will then take your shoebox gift to a local Operation Christmas Child drop-off location during National Collection Week, Nov. 16–23, 2020.
