[Jesus said,] “For this purpose I was born
and for this purpose I have come into the world
—to bear witness to the truth.
Everyone who is of the truth
listens to My voice.”
(John 18:37)

Holy Jesus, purposeful Speaker of truth, bless my ears with determination to listen devoutly to Your voice. When other voices, claiming to be truth-tellers, deny or alter Your words, grant me faith’s discernment to reject their lies and cling wholly to Your word of life. Amen.

You shall bless the LORD your God
for the good land He has given you.
(Deuteronomy 8:10b)

Commander-in-Chief of the armies of angels, as our nation’s flag waves in today’s breezes, I thank You for blessings poured out onto the United States of America, and I beg You to keep every citizen of this republic firmly committed to the principled pursuit of “liberty and justice for all.” Amen.

To [Jesus] all the prophets bear witness
that everyone who believes in Him
receives forgiveness of sins
through His name.
(Acts 10:43)

Spirit of life, point me to Jesus. By the inspired writings of the prophets, psalmists, evangelists, and apostles, and by the encouragement of fellow believers, direct me always to Him, for in Christ alone is the forgiveness I need. Hear and answer me for His sake. Amen.

For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro
throughout the whole earth,
to those whose heart is blameless toward Him.
(2 Chronicles 16:9)

You have covered me, O Lord, with the blamelessness of Christ. My guilt You have wholly concealed within His innocence. Look on me with favor and support me this day as I strive to lead a life that honors You and serves the neighbors You have given me. I pray this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

Do all things without grumbling or questioning,
that you may be blameless and innocent,
children of God without blemish
in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation,
among whom you shine as lights in the world.
(Philippians 2:14-15)

Loving Father, forgive my grumblings. Your blessings to me are so many and undeserved that I should never complain. By the blood of Jesus, Your Son, wash all discontentedness from me and replace it with gratitude that overflows in thanksgiving as a witness to Christ, the Light of the World. Amen.

For all the people walk
each in the name of its god,
but we will walk in the name of the LORD our God
forever and ever.
(Micah 4:5)

God of all grace, keep me faithful to You. With alluring cleverness and malicious intent Satan sets other “gods” before me, striving to win my heart away from You. Protect me! Preserve and daily intensify within me the devotion that strides toward heaven, steadfastly following Christ Jesus, Your Son. Amen.

But [Jesus] said,
“What is impossible with men
is possible with God.”
(Luke 18:27)

Since You are fully able to do things beyond all human capacity, almighty God, fill me with the faith that dares to make audacious requests. Pardon the smallness of my prayers, disprove my skepticism, and build my confidence in Your power to move mountain and save sinners. I ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.
