As for You, O LORD, You will not restrain Your mercy from me;
Your steadfast love and Your faithfulness will ever preserve me!
(Psalm 40:11)

Thank You, O Lord!  In Your great grace You do not withhold Your mercy from me.  I should face destruction because of my sinfulness, but Your Son Jesus died in my place, and now, for His sake, You delight to preserve my life and surround me with blessings.  Again, thank You, O Lord!  Amen.

Do you not know that you are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in you?
(1 Corinthians 3:16)

Spirit of God, as an act of Your pure love You have taken up residence in me.  Keep me so aware of Your presence that I do not dishonor Your temple by indulging in any wickedness but strive constantly to glorify Jesus by heeding Your promptings toward faith and holiness of behavior in all things.  Amen.

Behold, God is my salvation;
I will trust, and will not be afraid;
for the LORD GOD is my strength and my song,
and He has become my salvation.
(Isaiah 12:2)

In days of worrisome headlines, fortify my faith, O Lord God.  Help me live fearlessly, knowing that, true to His promise, Christ Jesus is with me always.  In this certainty, make me an encourager of others, pointing them to Jesus, Who by His death and resurrection, has become my salvation.  Amen.

Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ.
(Philippians 1:27a)

Lord Jesus, Son of God, You alone are worthy of the Father’s favor, yet You have won His favor for me by the sacrifice of Your blood.  By Your Spirit help me lead a life, in public and in private, that is worthy of such love.  Forgive me when I fail; and renew in me daily the determination to love as You love.  Amen.

“I have come into the world as light, so that whoever believes in Me may not remain in darkness.”
(John 12:46)

Light of the world, shine into the darkest places of my heart to drive out every sin that seeks to hide in shadows of shame and guilt.  You suffered Good Friday’s deep darkness to guarantee to me Easter’s dawn.  Strengthen my faith, so that to others threatened by darkness I also may shine Your light.   Amen.

The LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth,
and that every intention of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.
(Genesis 6:5)

It baffles and delights me, holy Lord, that even though You see my continual wickedness You love me with an everlasting love through Your Son Jesus Christ.  Blessedly, You are stronger than my heart!  Work Your will in me; turn me away from myself; and by faith in Jesus sanctify my intentions and actions.  Amen.

And [Jesus] said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few.
Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.
(Luke 10:2)

Lord Jesus, send laborers into Your harvest.  Train them, equip them, and go with them.  Protect them against temptation, strengthen them against rejection and ridicule, and support them by Your Spirit and the prayerfulness of Your Church.  Bring from their labors such bounty of souls that the number of saints in Your kingdom cannot be counted; and use even me as You will for kingdom harvest.  Amen.
