Be glad in the LORD,
and rejoice, O righteous,
and shout for joy,
all you upright in heart.
(Psalm 32:11)

There are seasons when I find it hard to rejoice, dear Lord.  This is one of them.  Forgive my heaviness of heart and gladden my spirits by reminding me of all that Your Son Jesus has done to secure my eternal salvation.  Then use me as You will to bring joy into the lives of others.  In Jesus’ name.  Amen.

The LORD searches all hearts
and understands every plan
and thought.

(1 Chronicles 28:9b.)

Almighty God, You know all things and can do all things.  Peer into my heart and mind to bring order out of chaos and direction out of confusion. When I am baffled be my certainty; when I am fearful be my courage; and when I cannot see clearly through the messiness of the daily headlines, show me Jesus, Your Son, in Whose name I pray.  Amen.

Now there are varieties of gifts,
but the same Spirit;
and there are varieties of service,
but the same Lord;
and there are varieties of activities,
but it is the same God
Who empowers them in everyone.
To each is given the manifestation
of the Spirit for the common good.
(1 Corinthians 12:4-7)

Spirit of God, You are the Giver of many varieties of gifts, all of which You intend for the common good.  Spare me from selfishness in the use of the gifts You have given me and from jealousy over the gifts You have given others.  I ask this for the sake of Jesus, Who gave Himself as the perfect gift for all.  Amen.

My brothers, show no partiality
as you hold the faith
in our Lord Jesus Christ,
the Lord of glory.
(James 2:1)

Lord Jesus Christ, Lord of glory, You show no partiality but call people from every nation to follow You.  Forgive all that is prejudicial within me, and turn it upside down, so that, like You, I love all people and gladly embrace them in friendship. Friend of all, I ask this in Your name.  Amen.

But Micaiah said,
“As the LORD lives,
what my God says,
that I will speak.”
(2 Chronicles 18:13)

God of truthfulness and everlasting life, Your word is altogether sure and holy.  Nothing You say can be denied.  Keep me always faithful to Your word, especially when it is challenged or contradicted.  Daily fortify me for bold witness to Jesus, Your Word made flesh.  Amen.

Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths.
Rather train yourself for godliness.
(1 Timothy 4:7)

Spirit of discipleship, train me for godliness. Guard me against pointless superstitions and anything else that may impede faith, and focus my energies entirely on following Jesus and making His love real in the lives of others. I ask this through Christ my Lord. Amen.

“We must work the works
of Him Who sent Me
while it is day;
night is coming,
when no one can work.”
(John 9:4)

Loving Redeemer, You entered time as the Babe of Bethlehem and worked diligently as the Son of a carpenter until it was time to undertake God’s great work of salvation.  Remind me that days are fleeting and that You have sent me into this time and place to work for You.  Amen.
