BAGS TO MATS MEETS ON FRIDAYS

The Bags to Mats Ministry took it pretty easy over the summer, just meeting once per month. The members, however, continued to work on the various different steps in producing a sleeping mat as almost everything can be done from home.

We will resume meeting on the 1st and 3rd Fridays on September 17th at 10:00 in Rm 116.  We welcome anyone who is called to help the homeless and wants to help us recycle with a purpose.  We donated 13 mats to LINC Austin in June and hope to do so again in November.

Thanks so much to those who donate their valuable time to Bags to Mats and hope to see you at the next meeting on September 17th.

“WHEN I GROW UP I WANT TO BE…”
by Tess Todd

I spend a lot of time on my computer, probably more than I should.  But it is my companion. My computer starts my day with inspiration, a Bible verse and prayer from Faith. It keeps me in touch with friends and family, brings me the latest news (I can select the source), provides laughs, and stimulates thought. It takes me to wonderful places and shows pictures of people and places I’ve enjoyed in years past.  CLICK HERE to continue reading.

PARA CORDERS – SEPTEMBER 28

NEW COMPASS GROUP
FOR PROFESSIONAL WOMEN
 SUNDAY’S @ 5:30

A new Compass Group is starting at Faith Lutheran Church for Professional Women interested in digging into God’s Word while we share the joys and challenges of balancing our personal and professional lives.

The group will meet the second Sunday of each month from 5:30-7:30 beginning Sunday, October 3 (room TBD). We will use a six-session study titled “The Dwelling Place of God: Lessons from Ezra and Haggai,” which highlights God’s longing to dwell among us. For more information contact Jill Meyer or the church office.

LIFE THOUGHTS from Lutherans for Life

September 19 – Pentecost XVII (Proper 20B) –
Life issues like surprise pregnancy and terminal diagnosis are not morally neutral situations (James 4:4). Intentionally ending life arises from sinful selfishness (James 4:2). But we don’t have to let our neighbors be led like lambs to slaughter. We can encourage and assist them in committing their cause instead to the Lord of hosts (Jeremiah 11:19-20). He has already given Jesus as guarantee that He will lift them up (James 4:10).

HEARTFELT STITCHERS FUNDRAISER
 Sunday, October 3rd

Complete your Christmas shopping early!  Mark your calendar for the long-awaited fundraiser for the Heartfelt Stitchers.   Hand-crafted items:  blankets, hats, scarves, etc.  All proceeds go to buy materials to continue to minister to others in this way.  Here’s a preview of an item in our silent auction.  So adorable and probably took a year to make!

LAY READERS NEEDED FOR 2022

What Is A Lay Reader?
A lay reader is a person who reads the scripture lessons during our worship services.  Public scripture reading is an important ministry as the reader becomes a vehicle for sharing God’s word with the congregation.

Who Can Be A Lay Reader?  Members of Faith who have the gift and commitment to read.  This is a very practical way to invite people to become more involved with our church.

A schedule for the 2022 lay readers will be published before the end of this year.  You will receive a copy of the worship guide from the church office a few days before your scheduled date, so you can prepare and review the scripture reading.

Yes, I want to sign up to be a lay reader!
Deadline to get your information back to us is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24.
