Misty Fisher

Church Secretary / secfaith@flcms.org

Misty Fisher joined Faith’s staff as Office Secretary a week before the pandemic, March 2020, wherein she had to work remotely and use her gifts of flexibility, communication, and creativity right away. Misty manages the church calendar, prayer list, transfers, records, database, daily Minute Prayer eblasts, the online newsletter (Faith Works & news), and a host of other things to support the pastors, staff, and congregation.

Over the past 40 years, Misty gained extensive experience in administrative support and communications at church, state, non-profit, and private businesses. Most recently she supported gift officers and fundraising events at Upbring (Lutheran Social Services of the South).

Misty is married, and together they raised two amazing daughters who are now in college. Being a mother was her main job, and she enjoyed supporting her daughters by helping with room parent activities, field trips, boosters, and praying moms at several private Christian schools, including Redeemer Lutheran School and Concordia High School. What a joy and comfort it gave her to know that her children learned about the Lord and what it is to be a Christian at school as well as at home.

Misty is a gifted, Christian songleader and songwriter. She especially enjoys singing with and making up songs for preschoolers so that they may have the Word of God on their lips. (“From the lips of children and infants you, Lord, have called forth your praise.” -Matthew 21:16, Psalm 8:1b.) A certified Music Together teacher, Misty led music classes and chapel at Hyde Park Baptist Child Development Center and Heartsong Music.

Misty and her family are members of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Austin. Misty is a woman of prayer and loves to encourage others to pray boldly. She has many “go to” Bible verses, but Psalm 40:1-3 NIV seems best for today:

I waited patient for the Lord,
He turned to me and heard my cry.
He lifted me out of the slimy pit,
Out of the mud and mire;
He set my feet on a rock
And gave me a firm place to stand.
He put a new song in my mouth,
A hymn of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear the Lord
And put their trust in him.
