You might especially read the Old Testament and the Gospel reading. As time and opportunity permits, also read the Psalm and Epistle. Following the reading(s), you can take time to discuss them, answering these questions: What word or idea stands out in the passage? What does this passage teach us about God?
-
All may name any blessings or concerns, using this simple pattern:
Blessings: Thank you, Lord, for ______________________
Concerns: Lord, bring hope to ________________________
Then the leader may conclude:
All of these prayers we lift before you, O God, in the name of Jesus, who teaches us to pray:
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven; give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever. Amen.
