HEARTFELT STITCHERS FUNDRAISER
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 3RD

Complete your Christmas shopping early!  The Heartfelt Stitchers have prepared many hand-crafted items (blankets, hats, scarves, etc.) for their fundraiser that takes place this Sunday, October 3.   All proceeds go to buy materials to continue to minister in LOVE to others with handmade blankets, hats, and scarves.  Here’s a preview of an item in our silent auction.  So adorable and probably took a year to make!

Many people, young and old, sick and well, have felt the loving touch of a handmade blanket, hat or scarf made by the Heartfelt Stitchers.  We continue to contribute items to the Veteran’s home, DELL NICU, Wesleyan Hospice, the sick and homebound at Faith, those baptized at Faith, and Williamson Country Victims Assistance Program.

NEW COMPASS GROUP
FOR PROFESSIONAL WOMEN

A new Compass Group is starting at Faith Lutheran Church for Professional Women interested in digging into God’s Word while we share the joys and challenges of balancing our personal and professional lives.

The group will meet for the first time this Sunday, October 3 (Room B116), 5:30-7:30. We will use a six-session study titled “The Dwelling Place of God: Lessons from Ezra and Haggai,” which highlights God’s longing to dwell among us. LIFE THOUGHTS from Lutherans for Life

October 3 – Pentecost XIX (Proper 22B) – This world idolizes sexuality so much it sacrifices unborn children in worship. Our Heavenly Father establishes boundaries to protect us from this slavery. He elevates us by connecting sexuality to marriage, intimacy, procreation, and family. Human bodies testify that we’re born already belonging to somebody. Where the world sees selves for expressing or enjoying, we celebrate them in sharing and serving!

LAY READERS NEEDED FOR 2022

What Is A Lay Reader?
A lay reader is a person who reads the scripture lessons during our worship services.  Public scripture reading is an important ministry as the reader becomes a vehicle for sharing God’s word with the congregation.

Who Can Be A Lay Reader?  Members of Faith who have the gift and commitment to read.  This is a very practical way to invite people to become more involved with our church.

A schedule for the 2022 lay readers will be published before the end of this year.  You will receive a copy of the worship guide from the church office a few days before your scheduled date, so you can prepare and review the scripture reading.

Yes, I want to sign up to be a lay reader!
Deadline to get your information back to us is SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24.

If you have questions, please contact Janine A or call the church office, 512-863-7332.

FAITH LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL NEWS

GRIEF SUPPORT GROUP

A Grief Support Group will be offered on Sundays from 9:45 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., beginning on October 31, 2021.

This will be an open group.  You can start any week, attend as frequently as you want and discontinue when you want.  This will be a safe place to share the story of your loved one and how their loss has impacted your life.   We will practice confidentiality.

We will gain strength as we share our experiences, consider Scripture and pray.  We will gain hope as we know that God is close to the brokenhearted.  You are invited to attend whether your grief is fresh, or if your longer-term grief still needs additional processing.

Contact the church office if you would like more information or would like to talk with the Facilitator, Dolores K.  For planning purposes, it will be helpful if you can let her know that you plan to attend.

4TH ANNUAL CAR SHOW

ANGEL TREE GIFTS

FOR 80+ GIRLS

Providing Angel Tree gifts for over 80+ girls at the Upbring New Life Children’s Center in Canyon Lake is a special outreach ministry, a way of sharing some Christian love with these formerly abused and troubled teenage girls.  Christmas gifts, clothing and contributions are due before THANKSGIVING!!  Specific request sheets from the girls may also be distributed upon request to Danny Swafford.  You may shop for an Angel’s Gifts, make a monetary donation, or purchase gift card(s) for them.  Blessings on your considerate donations. Thank you.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD

The Sunday School Mission of the Month is Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization.  Their mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies, as a means of reaching out to children with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  We ship these gifts outside the US to children affected by war, poverty, natural disasters, etc, and to children living on Native American reservations in the US.  Now’s the time to gather up a few shoe boxes with detachable lids.  They can be cardboard or even plastic shoe bins.  The SS Mission Offering will help pay for shipping of the boxes.  Thank you.
