Faith Lutheran Church is blessed to have a large community of senior adults, many of whom are active in one or more ministries, and serve faithfully as board chairs and members across the gamut, including Trustees and Elders, New Member Assimilation, Fellowship, Community Outreach, and the Board of Human Care.
Faith Senior Ministries (FSM) is the name for our emerging umbrella ministry program designed specifically to meet the needs of senior adult (55+) at each stage of advancing life. John Cotner, Vicar for Senior Ministries and Adult Education, leads coordination and collaborates closely with the FSM Planning Team, which convenes monthly to develop, plan, and coordinate different programs and events.
Senior Advocacy Program: 2020 Invited Speaker Series
In 2020, Faith Senior Ministries restarted the Senior Advocacy Program of invited speakers covering topics important to seniors at different stages of life. Currently, COVID-19 safety guidelines advise that we postpone gatherings in close proximity on the church grounds. Therefore, in lieu of prescheduled face-to-face speakers, we’re producing informational video interviews and conversations as an alternative. Our hope in Christ is that these videos will be helpful and interesting, especially as a temporary way of continuing the advocacy ministry for our senior adults until which time we return to a regular on-campus schedule.
