Help Spread Christmas Cheer to Nursing Home Residents!

This Christmas season the Chrismon Committee needs your help spreading Christmas cheer to residents at local nursing homes.  The committee is planning on giving out 20 wreaths to residents that have family far away or that do not have any family.  We need your help to raise funds for this mission project. Each wreath costs approximately $20 to make and we will be taking donations before and after church services on October 10 and 17.  The goal is to raise at least $400 for this project as well as take any additional money collected to make more Chrismons for the sanctuary.  The committee will have an example of the wreath as well as 20 angel pins for purchase for $10 each. Any amount donated will be greatly appreciated for our mission as well as providing more Chrismons for the sanctuary.  If you write a check, please add “Chrismons” in the memo line of your check.

Chrismons are Christmas tree ornaments that use Christian symbols. The word, Chrismon, is a combination of Christ and monogram (meaning symbol). These symbols of Christ on a Christmas tree help Christians to remember that Christmas is the celebration of Jesus’s Birth and a look into His life, and the ultimate gift – His death and resurrection. The story of Jesus is explained through the ornaments in traditional colors of white and gold. White is the liturgical (or Church) color for Christmas and symbolizes that Jesus was pure and perfect. Gold symbolizes His Majesty and Glory.
