I wait for your salvation,
O LORD.
(Genesis 49:18)

In this world that demands instant access, fast food, and quick fixes, teach me, O Lord, the blessings of patience. By the presence of Your Son, Jesus, fill my waiting with worship and servanthood. Knowing that my salvation is secure in Christ, transform my hurrying into helpfulness as Your Spirit leads me heavenward. Amen.

Nothing can hinder the LORD
from saving by many
or by few.
(1 Samuel 14:6b)

Wow! This is great news! Help me believe it, Spirit of Truth; help me believe that NOTHING can hinder the Lord from saving, not even my own sinfulness. Daily build up my confidence in Jesus, the Son of God, so that I follow and bear witness to Him with increasing delight and courage. Amen.

For the present form of this world
is passing away.
(1 Corinthians 7:31b)

According to a calendar known only to You, holy Father, history is racing to its end. While time remains help me lead a life of faithful and loving discipleship that peaceably yet urgently points the world to Jesus, the Savior of all, Who reigns in might and grace over time and eternity. Amen.

Every tree therefore
that does not bear good fruit
is cut down and
thrown into the fire.
(Luke 3:9b)

Lord Jesus, by Your death on a tree cut down You rescued me from the fires of hell. Bring to ripeness in me the holy fruit of good works that by faith imitate Your love and make it real in service to the neighbors into Whose company You place me each day. I pray this in Your name. Amen.

But when [Uzziah] was strong,
he grew proud,
to his destruction.
(2 Chronicles 26:16)

Spirit of life, through the holy word of God teach me to be cautious against pride and its destructiveness. Balance my joy in any achievement or accomplishment with the humility that bows in faith before the Father of the heavenly lights Who is the real Giver of every good and perfect gift. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

“I am the good shepherd.
The good shepherd lays down His life
for the sheep.
(John 10:11)

Your goodness, Lord Jesus, is defined and revealed in self-sacrifice. Make the same true of me, I beg You. Forgive the selfishness in me that refuses to relinquish any blessing, and create in me the generosity that always seeks the physical and spiritual well-being of others, even enemies. Amen.

May the LORD give strength to His people!
May the LORD bless His people with peace!
(Psalm 29:11)

The strength and peace I need are not my own, Lord Jesus; they are Yours, and they flow from the wounds of Calvary. Lead me daily to Your cross and tomb, knowing that by death You conquered death and that by rising You secured for me a place in Paradise. Here are strength and peace, indeed. Amen.
