Walk about Zion, go around her,

number her towers,

consider well her ramparts,

go through her citadels,

that you may tell the next generation

that this is God, our God,

forever and ever.

He will guide us forever.

(Psalm 48:12-14)

In troubling times, O God, be my guide. Lead me always heavenward by the gospel of Your Son’s death and resurrection. As I follow Jesus toward Paradise grant me the grace to recount to others the wisdom of the Scriptures and the name they reveal as the one name by which we must be saved. Amen.

And the Lord said to Paul

one night in a vision,

“Do not be afraid,

but go on speaking

and do not be silent,

for I am with you.”

(Acts 18:9-10a)

Ever-present Lord Jesus, fill me with faith’s courage, so that when Satan tempts me to keep silent and the world pressures me to say nothing, I will yet openly, publicly, and lovingly declare Your eternal truths with missionary dedication. I ask this in Your saving name. Amen.

And rising very early in the morning,

while it was still dark,

[Jesus] departed and went out to a desolate place,

and there He prayed.

(Mark 1:35)

Lord Jesus Christ, Son of God, teach me to make prayer a matter of first importance, a priority to be practiced with disciplined devotion. Fill with blessings that overflow into the lives of others the moments I spend in quiet conversation with the heavenly Father. In Your name I pray. Amen.

Do you see a man who is hasty in his words?

There is more hope for a fool than for him.

(Proverbs 29:20)

Spirit of God, guard my mouth! Bless me with wisdom that thinks very carefully before speaking. Then, infuse my words with power that serves holy purpose to encourage, comfort, correct, uplift, instruct, or otherwise help those I am addressing; through Jesus Christ, God’s Word made flesh. Amen.

They helped David against the band of raiders,

for they were all mighty men of valor

and were commanders in the army.

(1 Chronicles 12:21

For all the people who have helped secure our nation against enemies by serving in its armed forces, I give thanks to You, Commander-in-Chief of the armies of angels. Continue to raise up patriots who will wear America’s uniforms with pride and defend its freedoms with valor. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Do you presume on the riches

of His kindness and forbearance and patience,

not knowing that God’s kindness

is meant to lead you to repentance?

(Romans 2:4)

Forgive me, most merciful God, for so often taking Your favor for granted. It is no trifle that You are kind, patient, and forbearing toward me. No, it is purely because Jesus sacrificed His life in my place that You deal gently and generously with me. In His name I ask You to help me grow in this understanding. Amen.

“Truly, truly, I say to you,

whoever believes has eternal life.”

(John 6:47)

In the certainty that You rule over all things, relieve me from fear, almighty and ever gracious God. Current events are fully known to You. None of the dangers that worry me are secret from You. Remind me that nothing can overthrow the kingdom You have secured for Your people through the blood of Jesus, Your Son, in Whose name I pray. Amen.
